Stinging Insect Control
Wasps, hornets, yellow jackets and carpenter bees — treated up to 24 feet, no ladders.
What we do about it
Most stinging insect calls come in late summer, when a nest that started as a golf ball in May is the size of a football and everyone in it is irritable. Paper wasps build under eaves and deck rails, hornets hang nests in trees and on siding, yellow jackets go into the ground or wall voids where you can’t see the nest but can definitely find the entrance, and carpenter bees drill clean half-inch holes into fascia and deck boards year after year. All of them are worse to deal with from a ladder, which is why we don’t use one.
How it works
Inspect
We find what's active, where it's coming from, and what's attracting it.
Treat
Targeted treatment at the source, using Integrated Pest Management, not blanket spraying.
Protect
Seal, monitor and follow up. Unlimited callbacks for covered pests on a plan.
What to know
Why we treat from the ground
Every exterior treatment we do is performed from the ground up to 24 feet with extension-pole equipment. That reaches eaves, soffits, second-story nests and roofline carpenter bee galleries without anyone standing on a ladder next to an angry nest. It’s safer for our technicians and it means we can treat spots a lot of companies skip.
Knowing which one you have
Paper wasps are the least aggressive and the easiest to remove. Yellow jackets are the ones that send people to urgent care — they defend ground and wall-void nests aggressively and can sting repeatedly. Bald-faced hornets build the big gray paper nests and are territorial. Carpenter bees rarely sting but do real, cumulative damage to wood. We identify the species, find the actual nest (not just where you saw activity), and treat it directly so the colony is eliminated rather than scattered.
Covered by our Comprehensive plan
Stinging insects up to 24 feet — carpenter bees, bumble bees, hornets, yellow jackets in structures and in the ground, mud wasps and paper wasps — are included in the Comprehensive Rodent & Pest Defense Plan. If you get a nest every summer, that’s usually the better deal than calling one at a time.
Covered by our service plans
Most of what’s on this page is covered under our Essential plan from $50/month, or our Comprehensive plan from $65/month with rodent and stinging-insect coverage. Both include unlimited callbacks between visits.
Frequently asked questions
Should I try to knock the nest down myself?
We’d rather you didn’t, especially with yellow jackets or hornets. Store-bought sprays work on small paper wasp nests you can reach safely, but anything in a wall, in the ground, or above head height is a job for someone with the right equipment.
Do you remove honey bees?
Honey bees are beneficial and we don’t exterminate them. If you have a honey bee swarm or hive, we’ll point you to a local beekeeper who can relocate it.
Will the nest come back next year?
Wasps and hornets don’t reuse nests, but the same spot can be attractive again. Yellow jacket queens overwinter and start fresh. Carpenter bees do return to the same wood. Sealing old galleries and treating in spring, or being on the Comprehensive plan, keeps it from becoming an annual event.
